COVID-19 Vaccination Status

As of Monday 17th May 2021, the updated version of the NHS App contains a separate feature to show individuals’ COVID-19 vaccination records, without the need for the individuals to contact their GP.

For those patients without / who do not use smartphones who know the country they are travelling to requires COVID-19 vaccination status, they can call the NHS helpline on 119 (from 17 May) and ask for a letter to be posted to them. This must be at least 5 working days after they’ve completed their course of the vaccine. Patients should expect the letter to take up to 5 working days to reach them.
The letter will be sent automatically to the address registered with the patients GP. The 119 call handler the patient speaks to will not be able to see their address to check this with them. If the patient has recently moved house, they need to make sure they’ve given their new address to the GP practice before calling 119.

Recording of
overseas vaccinations

Please see the below from London Immunisation Team regarding recording of overseas vaccinations.

“At the moment vaccines administered overseas cannot be recorded in the UK National Immunisation Management system (NIMS) which is the system used to show your vaccination status in the NHS App.  Therefore the ability to show any “overseas” Vaccination Certificate and request a Vaccination Passport is not currently available from the NHS. This issue is being worked on at a national level and an update is expected shortly.  Any queries regarding this issue need to be directed to NHS 119 or to NHS App support rather than the GP practice: https://www.nhs.uk/contact-us/nhs-app-contact-us/
If people cannot access online services, and they are due to travel abroad in the near future, they can call 119 to request a letter that will provide evidence of their vaccination status. The NHS Vaccine Resolution Centre has now gone live for those who had COVID vaccinations abroad. This is accessible through 119.”

Please refer to the above and DO NOT contact the practice regarding proof of your vaccination status for travel or other purposes.
