Respiratory Syncytial Virus Vaccinations available from September 2024
Everyone turning 75 years old on or after the 1 September 2024 will now be offered a single dose of Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) vaccine. This is because older adults are more at risk of serious complications from RSV. You can still get the vaccine up to the day before you turn 80.
RSV is an infectious disease of the airways and lungs.  The infection often causes symptoms similar to a cold, including cough, sore throat, sneezing and runny or blocked nose. It can also make you become wheezy or short of breath and lead to pneumonia and other life-threatening conditions.
We are running regular clinics so please call us or book via the NHS app to make your appointment.
Can I have the vaccine at the same time as my COVID and Flu vaccine?
RSV isn’t normally given at the same appointment as your COVID-19 or flu vaccines as it may reduce the efficacy of the vaccines.  We will contact you separately to make your COVID and flu vaccination appointment.
Please see the patient information leaflet here for more information on the vaccine
Pregnant women are also being offered the vaccine to protect their babies from RSV – your midwife or obstetrician should offer you your vaccine.  You can read the guide to the RSV vaccine for pregnant women here
