Update from Dr Nicola Jones, Clinical Lead, Chair of the South West London Primary Care Cell
25 January 2021
Data released by NHSE late last week shows that in south west London we are at the forefront of the Covid-19 vaccination rollout in London, with over 95,000 jabs given.
NHS England and NHS Improvement published figures on Thursday 21 January that indicated that Since 8 December 2020, GP PCN sites, hospital sites and the large vaccination centres have together administered 95,583 vaccines. This is likely to be an underestimate given some data issues we are aware of and a further few days of vaccinating since then.
These numbers are a testament to the amazing job GPs and their teams of practice staff and volunteers have done working quickly to establish services throughout our geography. Amazing work and I know patients and the public are extremely grateful.
To date 39 PCNs have launched Covid-19 vaccination clinics at 25 different sites across the south west London as the NHS rolls out the biggest vaccination programme in its history.
The community sites are supplemented by eight local hospital clinics and to ensure the eligible local population are offered a vaccination in a location convenient to them, more large vaccination centres will be opening in the coming weeks. NHSE is considering how additional access can be provided by using community pharmacy provision.
